Good quick starter

I bought this as an e-book because and I must say it is well readable even if you do not have a kindle.
Jasper gives a good overview of what it takes to set-up your business and how you can do this in a practical way.
The average home-brewer will be able to understand all off the more technical descriptions and it will help you figure out how you can do the set-up / scaling of your own brewery. It is full of links that bring you to all kind of companies and information that would have taken me weeks to find out by my self. Well worth the nine dollar. Thanks a lot.

Redundant, ethnocentric, and no consistency in style

This book has good intentions, but there seems to be no consistency in the style. With some groups, the author talks about "Health Risks"; with other groups, the author talks about "Health Problems and Concerns." There's no explanation for why some ethnic groups get a special mention while other ethnic groups are completely ignored.

The tone of the book is very ethnocentric in that it assumes the reader is of the same cultural background of the author. The wording is very vague as well. For example, they mention "Customs for dating and marrage are much the same for Bosnians as they are for Europeans or Americans. . ." Exactly what does this mean? I'm not exactly sure what is customary since Europe and America are large places, and there seems to be a lot of diversity in marriage and dating customs.

There are also a lack of cited references in the statements made. I wouldn't be surprised if the author interviewed one Iranian/Pole/Filipino/etc and based whole assumptions of a culture based on 1-2 informal interviews. The author also cites several research studies of questionable methodology (or maybe just summarizes them in unclear language) and does a poor job citing the resource so we can see for ourselves exactly what was involved in each study.

Overall, I did not enjoy the book, nor did I think it was very helpful. The intentions are good, but there is a lot that can be improved for future editions.

Since I got the book, I browse through to see what it is all about. What a revelation and the ideas it presented are very precise and very informative. It is a good reference book for any health care workers who would like to know and improve their understanding of their patients. It can also be applied in any situation not just the health care field. I recommend this book for people who will be working with multi-cultural or multi-ethnic groups.

The Statistical Analysis of Discrete Data provides an introduction to cur� rent statistical methods for analyzing discrete response data. The book can be used as a course text for graduate students and as a reference for researchers who analyze discrete data. The book's mathematical prereq� uisites are linear algebra and elementary advanced calculus. It assumes a basic statistics course which includes some decision theory, and knowledge of classical linear model theory for continuous response data. Problems are provided at the end of each chapter to give the reader an opportunity to ap� ply the methods in the text, to explore extensions of the material covered, and to analyze data with discrete responses. In the text examples, and in the problems, we have sought to include interesting data sets from a wide variety of fields including political science, medicine, nuclear engineering, sociology, ecology, cancer research, library science, and biology. Although there are several texts available on discrete data analysis, we felt there was a need for a book which incorporated some of the myriad recent research advances. Our motivation was to introduce the subject by emphasizing its ties to the well-known theories of linear models, experi� mental design, and regression diagnostics, as well as to describe alterna� tive methodologies (Bayesian, smoothing, etc. ); the latter are based on the premise that external information is available. These overriding goals, to� gether with our own experiences and biases, have governed our choice of topics.
