Interesting premise with lots of reference notes

The central theme of this work is that we carry the memory of a huge catastrophe in our core species memory and we are finally catching up to re-awakening to that event so many thousands of years past. There is a great deal of borrowed material with ample reference notes and additional reading potential for anyone picking up this book. I have already used this book to find other works that might be a little better researched and written to continue exploring this genre of forgotten history. If you have an open mind, then this is a pretty good book.

A Frenetic Blinding Bending Look into Gaelic Football, Subbing and Sobriety

Don't read this book at 3 am! It will buzz you up to the ceiling and keep you up there - you will NOT get back to sleep! John's story is frenetic, well-written and above all, honest. He is self-deprecating but also knows how good he was as the sub Goal Keeper. I can't imagine what it must have felt like to have been a sub all that time and never to have gotten a game on! (and this for a man who admits to loving the limelight!)
His personality shines through so that this book is not only an inside-the-locker room expose of the Dub's rituals and warm-ups and practices - it's also a mad careening journey into the mind of a man crazied by a pedophile priest in his boyhood and who's been chasing demons since then. The man's heart shines through in this book on football and I'm a person who HATES football of any description, having married a bloke who watched it every night for the 8 years of our "bliss" together.
John managed to keep me rivetted throughout although I got lost on some of the footy jargon. So don't let the apparent content put you off. It really is a read about a guy who went from god-awful benders of self-oblivion to the sober paddy he is today. That journey is not unusual - what's unusual is that a man could be so honest about it. More men should be so honest.
It's a great read - it'll get your pulse racing (if you're a football fan) and it will creep rapidly around your heart like vines so that you praise the gods when he finally meets his wife Serena and sobers up. I can't convey the relief I felt when that happened. A really interesting read.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Komparatistik, Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 1,9, Justus-Liebig-Universit�t Gie�en (Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Postcolonial Studies und Tendenzen in der aktuellen deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ich m�chte mich in dieser Arbeit mit dem Orientbild in Hermann Hesses „Die Morgenlandfahrt“ besch�ftigen und kl�ren, ob es sich dabei um die westliche Imagination eines solchen handelt oder ob Hesse einen, wenn auch fiktiven, selbstst�ndig kulturellen Orient entwickelt. Ich werde mich im Zuge dessen insbesondere mit dem Reisemotiv und der Entdeckung des Fremden in der Erz�hlung besch�ftigen. Dabei werde ich insbesondere auf den Zusammenhang zur Orientalismusdebatte innerhalb postkolonialer Studien eingehen und versuchen, die Bedeutung des Romans f�r die Beziehung von Ost und West (auf literarischer wie gesellschaftlicher Ebene) herauszuarbeiten. Aus drei Gr�nden entschied ich mich f�r eine Analyse von „Die Morgenlandfahrt“ im Kontext postkolonialer Literatur: Erstens z�hlt Hermann Hesse zu denjenigen deutschen Autoren, die sich intensiv mit anderen Kulturen auseinandersetzten und nicht alles, was nicht national war, ablehnten. Zweitens finde ich es interessant ein anderes Werk als den Vorzeigeroman „Siddharta“ in Bezug auf den Aspekt des �stlichen und dessen Bild im Westen zu untersuchen und drittens treffen Hesses Schreib- und Denkweisen meinen pers�nlichen Geschmack, wobei ich zugeben muss, dass ich seine Romane bis zu Beginn des Seminars Postcolonial Studies und Tendenzen in der deutschsprachigen Gegenwartsliteratur nicht unter dem Blickwinkel betrachtet habe, den ich in dieser Arbeit verfolgen werde. Nach einer kurzen Biographie des Autors Hermann Hesse und einer Zusammenfassung der inhaltlichen Ereignisse in „Die Morgenlandfahrt“ werde ich unter Punkt 3.1 theoretische Grundlagen zum Orientalismus darstellen und mich dabei insbesondere auf die Ausf�hrungen von Edward W. Said beziehen, der innerhalb dieser Forschungsrichtung die bisher bedeutendsten Ideen lieferte. Im Punkt 3.2 werde ich dann „Die Morgenlandfahrt“ auf Reisemotive und die Entdeckung des Fremden und des Anderen untersuchen, wobei ich mich auf das erste Kapitel der Erz�hlung beschr�nke, da hier die eigentliche Pilgerreise dargestellt wird. Anschlie�end m�chte ich unter Punkt 3.3 die beiden vorher genannten Punkte miteinander verkn�pfen, also darauf eingehen, inwiefern Hesses Roman mit den Ans�tzen des Orientalismus �bereinstimmt oder davon abweicht und welche Bedeutung dies f�r postkoloniale Studien deutschsprachiger Literatur hat.

The late Eyvind Earle was an American artist whose craftsmanship and skill produced museum quality artworks. He was also a gifted poet and writer. The works in this book are filled with magic and beauty. Mostly colorful stylized landscapes that, although not photo-realistic, nevertheless express a mystical feeling about nature . I wish I could see the originals.
